CLOSING THE LOOP ON FOOD WASTE & HUNGER

In McMinnville, food surplus and food insecurity exist side by side

Perfectly good food is discarded while neighbors face barriers to access

ZWZH was launched to better understand this disconnect—and identify solutions

Why Zero Waste, Zero Hunger (ZWZH)?

Vision

Zero Waste, Zero Hunger Project is dedicated to supporting McMinnville on its pathway to becoming a circular city—one that eliminates both food waste and hunger through collaboration, innovation, and community action

Mission

To understand and continuously improve McMinnville’s food distribution systems by collaborating with community partners to redirect surplus food to those in need while reducing waste

Outcome

A comprehensive, regularly updated guide connecting the community to food resources, surplus-recovery opportunities, and volunteer roles that strengthen food access and reduce waste
